"Darkest Night
"Darkest Night," Green Lantern- Hal Jordan (character created by John Broome and Gil Kane, owned by DC Comics) is a glass on plexiglass mosaic, inspired by the art of Alex Ross. Green Lantern consists entirely of stained glass. The piece measures 20x24in. framed. All pieces have been cut and placed entirely by hand on 1/4 in. plexiglass. This piece can be lit from behind to give it a stained glass window look.
Hal Jordan was a test pilot following in his father's footsteps until he was chosen by a dying alien to replace him as a cosmic guardian. After crashing on earth, Abin Sur used his “power ring” to seek out an individual who was "utterly honest and born without fear" to take his place as a member of the Green Lantern Corps. Equipped with the power ring and battery (lantern) Hal Jordan became the protector of the sector of space that includes planet Earth.
Often referred to as "the most powerful weapon in the universe,” a Green Lantern's power ring, when activated, will encase its user in a force field which allows one to fly, move through inhospitable environments and travel vast distances quickly. In addition to generating the wearer's Green Lantern uniform, the power ring's most distinctive effect is the generation of green, solid-light constructs, the size, complexity, and strength of which is almost limitless…..
Although having to be re-charged every 24hrs, a Green Lanterns power ring main limitation is twofold; the color yellow and the willpower of its bearer. Many users have found ways around the yellow impurity in the ring, but none can circumvent their own lack of willpower. Can you imagine the ability to create or destroy only limited by your own, determination, strength of character, commitment, or drive?
Repeat after me, “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, let those who worship evil's might, beware my power... Green Lantern's light!”
