"A Light in the Darkness"
"A light in the darkness," Darth Vader (character created by George Lucas owned by The Walt Disney Company) is a glass on wood stained glass mosaic. It is grouted with black sanded grout and then stained with onyx water soluble stain to darken the color. The piece measures 31.5x35in framed and is compromised of approximately 30,000 pieces that have been cut and placed entirely by hand. The lightsaber has LED lighting behind it and can be illuminated.
Once a heroic Jedi Knight, Darth Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force, became a Sith Lord, and led the Empire’s eradication of the Jedi Order. He remained in service of the Emperor -- the evil Darth Sidious -- for decades, enforcing his Master’s will and seeking to crush the fledgling Rebel Alliance. But there was still good in him…
Vader and his son Luke faced one another in a final lightsaber duel. Luke defeated his father and proclaimed himself a Jedi Knight but was attacked by the Emperor. Refusing to watch his son die, Vader—who still had good within him—threw his Master down a reactor shaft. This act redeemed Vader from the dark side of the force and he once again became Anakin Skywalker. With the Emperor DarthSidious dead, the Sith were defeated.
No matter how dark things may seem, there is always a light, there is always a new hope. “Search your feelings. You know it to be true.”
